Cappadocia's historical and natural wealth has been transformed into art by the people of the region throughout the ages. The legacy of this natural and cultural heritage occupies an important place in the struggles of the people of Cappadocia. In addition to keeping cultural heritage alive, handicraft pottery, carpet (rug) weaving, handmade doll production and onyx stone processing are also an economic return. The history of pottery in Cappadocia dates back to the Hittites. Carpet weaving is most common in Ürgüp and Avanos, while rug weaving is common in Kozaklı and Gülşehir.
